Lime Putty 5kg

Lime putty is the foundation of heritage work. Unlike modern bagged hydrated lime, matured putty has the plasticity and workability that traditional lime mortars need. We source ours from a small producer in Gloucestershire who matures the material in pits for a minimum of nine months — the industry minimum is three months, and the difference is visible the first time you work with properly matured stock.

For re-pointing joints, stabilising render, or making small patches, 5kg is enough to cover approximately 4m² of pointed brick at a 10mm joint. Store the unused portion sealed with a skim of water on top; it will keep indefinitely as long as air is excluded.

Not suitable for load-bearing work. For structural repairs, talk to us about specifying a hot-mixed lime for your project.
